Student to answer ONLY TWO questions:

1.    Name and explain the significance of three Apostolic Church Fathers and Apologists in early Christianity. In what ways is second and third centuries Christianity similar or different from 21st century Christianity?

 

2.    What factors contributed to the rise and fall of the Roman Catholic church especially between the reign of Constantine and the pre-Reformation period?

 

 

3.    Name some of the leading ancestors of Christianity in ancient Africa. Discuss the contribution of Augustine of Hippo to orthodox Christianity in Africa and to the world at large.

 

4.    Describe the expansion of Christianity in the early church and the imperial policy to hinder its progress. How did Rome come to terms with Christianity?

 

 

5.    What did the early Christians believe? And what did they do to ensure that true orthodoxy prevail throughout the Christian church?

 

6.    Name the key leaders of the Reformation in the 16th century. What was similar or different about the Reformation that each reformer represented? How can Africa Diaspora Christianity stay always reforming or renewing (semper reformanda in Latin)?

7.    Given the broader history of Christianity outlined in class, briefly trace the historical and theological roots of CoP (i.e., beyond its formation in Ghana).  In what ways can CoP contribute to evangelical/Pentecostal Christianity in the West?
